White Bean + Cilantro Hummus

Treat yourself to this savory afternoon snack that will have your taste buds begging for more.

The main ingredient, cannellini beans, or white kidney beans, are traditional Italian beans which provide a long list of nutrients, vitamins and minerals. They can help reduce cholesterol, they are a good sources of both fiber and protein and are even known to reduce headaches through a trace mineral called molybdenum. White beans also provide the body with leucine, an amino acid that not only aids in exercise recovery, but also can aid in reducing body fat.

Cilantro-Hummus

Ingredients

1 Can cannellini beans, drained

1/4 Cup cilantro

2 Cloves of garlic

2 Tbs extra virgin olive oil (Try some organic olive oils here!)

Juice of half a medium lemon

Salt

Combine beans, cilantro, garlic, oil and lemon juice together in a blender/food processor/hand blender (whatever you have should work!) Blend for about one minute, or until you reach the desired consistency. Add salt to taste. Start dipping! Try it with carrots, celery, snow peas or bread.
